The Pakistan Deaf Welfare Association (PDWA) and Milestone Society for the Special Personas (MSSP) have urged the President of Pakistan to support the organisations working for disable persons to enable them to play their constructive role for nation building and social revolution.
The MSSP President Shafiq-ur-Rehman while addressing a press conference here, on Monday, said that the non-governmental organisations want to promote the human and social values. He said that the organisations of disabled persons are making sincere efforts for the provision of standard education for disabled persons, but they have not been given due status in national constitution yet nor are they part of agenda of any political party.
He urged the government to open job opportunities for 51 percent disabled people so that they could work for their community, besides, earn their livelihood. The government should allocate funds for the disabled person's organisation so that the circle of social programs could be increased more effectively. The speakers also said their organisations would not accept and support any programme designed without consulting the stakeholders.
