A division bench headed by Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC), Khawaja Muhammad Sharif here on Monday deferred the hearing of suo moto notice into claims of Zarco scam affectees after Zarco Chief Executive Lakht-e-Hussnain's counsel sought adjournment due to his other engagements. Western Union, a money exchange company, also submitted an application in the LHC which says Zarco owes its Rs 540.27 million.
The counsel for Western Union pointed out that Zarco had been sending money abroad through its channel but it had not made payment to Union that was now increased to Rs 540.27 million. The bench has issued notices to Zarco and FIA. FIA special counsel Azam Nazir Tarar also presented a report to the court about claims of the affectees. He stated that 65 affectees had been paid Rs 40.49 million so far. On previous hearing, the court had ordered FIA to make payments to the affectees by using Rs 50 million security of the company lying deposited with State Bank of Pakistan.
