India's September oilmeal exports up

India's monthly oilmeal exports reversed the downtrend of last eight months as demand improved in traditional Asian markets, a leading trade body said on Tuesday. India's oilmeal exports rose 19 percent in September from the same month a year ago to 231,297 tonnes, the Solvent Extractors' Association of India said.
Exports for April to September were, however, down 51 percent at 1.2 million tonnes from a year ago period. The half-yearly exports were down due to weak export demand and lower crushing of local oilseeds, said B.V. Mehta, executive director of the trade body. India exported 171,955 tonnes of soyameal in September, 45,318 tonnes of rapeseed meal, 251 tonnes of sunflowermeal and 13,773 tonnes of castormeal, the trade body said.
