The Lahore High Court (LHC) has stayed the suspension of MAO college Lahore principal Professor Zafar Mohsan Pirzada who challenged the government policy of punishing the teachers who fail to give better result. Principal of Government Postgraduate College Gojra M Zafar Ullah has also challenged his suspension on the same ground.
The court while staying their suspension called for report from the government within fortnight. The petitioners were of the view that government had suspended them illegally and without lawful authority. They said respondent officials failed to adopt proper procedure to take action against them. They therefore prayed to the court to declare the government policy illegal and allowed their petitions accordingly.
The court after hearing their counsel at length stayed their suspension and called for report. It may be mentioned that government had suspended twenty teachers for not showing good performance and not giving better result of their classes or their institutions. Government had also decided to award such teachers who would show better performance and results.
