The Divisional administration has confiscated 2.35 million 50 kg bags of sugar from 15 sugar mills and had evolved a mechanism to sale it to consumers at Rs 40/- per kg, said Commissioner Tahir Hussain here on Wednesday. Special sale points had been set up in different areas of the division and the confiscated bags of sugar are being supplied there to ensure the sale of sugar at Rs 40/- per kg in the light of High Court decision, he added.
The Commissioner further mentioned that all the DCOs had been directed to ensure the implementation of Sugar Prices fixed by High Court. According to details, the Commissioner said that the administration impounded 568,320(50 kg bags) from Shakarganj Sugar Mills, 522,522 from Kashmir Sugar Mills, 103,690 from Safina Sugar Mills, 66,000 from Haq Bahu Sugar Mills, 351,053 from Kamalia Sugar Mills, 24,000 Chaudhry Sugar Mills, 38,117 from Shakarganj Sugar Mills Bhone, 14511 M Tons from Chanaar Sugar Mills, 964 M. Tons Crescent Sugar Mills, 3510 M. Tons Gojra Samundri Sugar Mills, 2,316 M. Tons Hussain Sugar Mills, 11,259 M Tons Hamza Sugar Mills and 2,170 M. Tons from Madina Sugar Mills.
At this occasion the Commissioner said that CM Punjab had issued special instructions to comply with the High Court decision and the Divisional administration would implement it in letter and spirit.
