A meeting, chaired by Administrator DHA and President CBC Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi was held at Cantonment Board Clifton's Office here on Friday to review the overall situation of DHA residents' civic complaints vis-a-vis CBC's response to resolve them. CEO CBC Mrs Zeenat Ahmed was also present on the occasion.
Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi expressed his concern over the increasing number of pending residents' complaints pertaining to provision of civic amenities which need to be resolved. He underlined the need for identifying the weak areas in the system and asked CBC to take appropriate and practical measures for promptly resolving the residents' problems in a pragmatic manner. He stressed the need for devising and streamlining a system which ensures effective resolution of the residents' complaints effectively.
Brigadier Tirmizi directed CBC to formulate a methodology for removal of debris in front of open roads in DHA ASP (as soon as possible). He asked DHA and CBC staff to ensure that in future all under-construction houses/shops in DHA residential/commercial areas should be screened/covered and contractors who do not remove the debris after completion of work be fined/penalised to keep DHA free of all sort of debris. He asked DHA Vigilance to help in effective implementation of the policy.
The meeting was informed that there were 26,000 manhole covers in DHA/CBC areas out of which 914 were missing being stolen and 348 were damaged/broken. President CBC directed that manhole covers with the new embedded technology be procured immediately and all missing manhole covers be replaced in a month's time. He sanctioned four vehicles for the CBC sanitation and sewerage department to improve the mobility and efficiency of the setup.
Brigadier Tirmizi asked the CBC Water Wing to ensure judicious distribution of water supply in all the areas of DHA/CBC to address the problem of scarcity/shortage of water in DHA with a forward looking and dynamic approach. The meeting decided that CBC should launch an effective campaign according to a well chalked out strategy to remove all illegal suction pumps from main water supply lines in the area.
President CBC also directed CBC to take all-out measures for making all streetlights fully functional, especially on Beach Avenue in DHA, within a month's time.
Brigadier Tirmizi asked CBC to make necessary arrangements to ensure that residents do not slaughter their animals on roads and streets of DHA on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha. He said that the residents must be provided adequate facilities for sacrificing animals at dedicated places and it should be ensured that the environment and surroundings of the area remain neat and clean.
President CBC in is concluding remarks asked the DHA/CBC staff to adopt resident friendly attitude in all their undertakings and to ensure a resident-responsive management.-PR
