Federal Minister for interior, Rehman Malik has reached Singapore to attend the 78th Interpol Ministerial meeting that started in Singapore on Sunday and would continue till October 15. The Interior Minister is attending the meeting on the directive of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, in view of the significance of the Interpol General Assembly.
The Interior Minister will address the conference on "growing need for international policing." He will, however, cut his visit short in the backdrop of situation at home and will reach home on Monday after his speech to the General Assembly, said a press release issued here. The opening session of the meeting was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Wong Kan Seng followed by the address of Interpol Secretary General Ronald K Noble.
Kan Seng mentioned that Pakistan is a major victim of war on terror and the related problems it is facing. He appreciated the tireless efforts of Rehman Malik and thanked him for participation in the important conference. Senator Rehman Malik spent a busy day on Sunday and held meetings with heads of delegations from Australia, United States and UN under Secretary General.
