The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has stressed the need to resolve the Kashmir dispute through dialogue.
The APHC chairman said this while speaking at a seminar in Srinagar, said the Kashmir Media Service (KMS). He said that the global situation has changed and the international community is keen on the resolution of all disputes, including Kashmir. 'During my visit to New York, I met with some important personalities, especially those persons who have strong relations with government of India. They appreciated and supported the Kashmir cause and assured me that they will play their role in resolving the dispute, he added.
He said Kashmiris have achieved great success at the international level during the last couple of weeks as India was being pressurised to hold dialogue with Pakistan and Kashmiri leaders. He observed that there was no mentioning of Kashmir issue in Bush administration. But in the past few months, many statements have come from President Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Congratulating Obama for winning the noble peace prize, Mirwaiz said, 'Obama administration has made Kashmir issue one of its top agendas. His administration has categorically told the Indian establishment, despite signing the nuclear deal with them, that peace and development will only be achieved in South Asia, when Kashmir issue is resolved, he said.
APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan AL-Moosvi while speaking on the occasion said that it was the responsibility of the Hurriyet leadership and the people to remember the martyrs and look after their families.
In his address, APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, said that government of India was using different tactics to sabotage the ongoing freedom movement. 'But the attachment shown by the people time and again with the freedom struggle is in itself a success, he added. Nayeem Khan deplored that thousands of Kashmiris were languishing in different jails without any trial.
