Postponement of by-election challenged

A citizen Muhammad Azhar Siddique has challenged the decision of a single bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) staying the by-elections in the province. Petitioner included Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and others as respondents.
The petitioner prayed to the court to set aside the decision of the single bench and contended that security and safety of human life was always of paramount consideration but the holding of bye-elections to filling the casual vacancies could not be postponed for indefinite period and could not be kept without representation. He said this act of the government was against the interest of the electorates, constitution and democratic norms.
