Uber launches cheaper rides in Pakistan
The popular cab-hailing service Uber declared another car type for its users with price lower than the rest.
The service however is introduced today, is only limited to the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad for now. The new car type appears under the name of ‘uberMini’ and has Suzuki Mehran cars for cheaper fares.
Mehran rides were previously under the same car type as ‘uberGo’, but now the company has introduced a completely new category for the cars that is as cheap as PKR 75 as compared to ‘uberGo’, according to Tech Juice.
The basic fare of the car type is Rs. 50 with per KM charges of Rs. 4 and per minute charges of Rs. 2.5. Whereas, the minimum fare of the ride is Rs. 75. The procedure to calculate the total amount for the ride is the same.
The company announced its new service via a blogpost along with fare estimations of some of the popular routes. For example, from F-11 to Blue Area in Rs. 100, from I-8 to Centaurus Mall in Rs. 105, from Saddar to Commercial Market in Rs. 110 and from Satellite Town to Faizabad in Rs. 120.
According to Uber, the reason the car was introduced as a separate car type was due to negative feedback from its customers and through ‘uberMini’, the fare bracket will probably suit the Pakistani audience, informs ProPakistani.
