The Netherlands is introducing a new sponsored technology program in Pakistan with 10 expert officials soon to reach Pakistan for assistance.

The information was revealed by Umair Ahmed, Netherlands Policy Officer on Economic Affairs when he called on Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi, President Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). However, the exact nature of the project is yet to be known.

Ahmed talked about a raise in cooperation in bilateral trade, agriculture, textiles and poultry. He informed that Pakistan and the Netherlands are major trading partners and the Netherlands is also the fourth leading investor in Pakistan, reported Technology Times.

Ahmed explained that even in the past, Netherlands has assisted projects linked to good governance, water, education and environment. Since 2014, the primary focus of the European Union and Pakistan’s relationship has been on rule of law, human rights, rural development, education and good governance.

Roomi believed that Netherlands should provide warehouses in order to display Pakistani goods. He explained opportunities for Dutch firms in Pakistan in sectors of cattle, dairy farming, beef and chicken processing, energy, IT and few others.

Primarily, Dutch exports to Pakistan include oil and oil products, industrial and agricultural machinery and chemicals while Pakistan exports textiles, woven fabrics, linen and agricultural products to Netherlands, as per Tech Juice.
