Iranian film-maker Narges Kalhor, daughter of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's media advisor Mehdi Kalhor, said Tuesday she had claimed asylum in Germany where she was attending a film festival. "I was afraid there would be problems if I returned to my country, so yesterday (Monday) I applied for asylum, a day before my visa expired," Kalhor, 25, told AFP by phone from the southern German city of Nuremberg.
Kalhor was presenting her short film "The Rake" - based on Franz Kafka's short story "In The Penal Colony" - at Perspektive, the first German festival dedicated to human rights.
