Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik has rejected the rumours regarding the existence of 'Quetta Shoora' saying that such Shoora' does not exist on ground and all what is being propagated in this regard is based on speculations.
"Government is firm in launching a military offensive in Waziristan and final decision in this regard will be made after the return of Prime Minister Gilani," the minister said here on Wednesday, while talking to media outside the Parliament. Malik also rejected the speculations regarding the presence of Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar on Pakistani soil saying that Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar are not in Pakistan and some enemies of Pakistan are creating fuss to cause problems for Pakistan.
Malik urged the international community to play its role in sealing the Pak-Afghan border to eradicate terrorism from the region. Afghanistan should cooperate with Pakistan in the war against terror and stop the terrorists from crossing over to Pakistan, he added. He asked Afghanistan to frustrate the evil designs of terrorists meant for destabilising Pakistan. "The terrorists are being provided arms from Afghanistan," he said.
Talking about Saturday's terrorists attack on GHQ, Rehman Malik said that the investigation of the terrorist attack is continuing under Army Act and if they need the co-operation and assistance from civilian administration in investigation they will be provided.
"Pakistan Army, its intelligence institutions and other organisations are investigating the GHQ attack and it will be made public when completed', he added The attack on the GHQ was an attack on the whole nation, Malik said, adding that whole nation is standing along side its armed forces. To a question about Taliban, Rehman Malik said that Taliban have turned mercenaries and Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud is a paid hit man.
