Workshop on "e-filing of returns and withholding statements" was held at Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), Karachi, on 14 and 15 of October, 2009. About 100 representatives of prominent taxpayers of LTU, Karachi attended the workshop. Director General, LTU, Karachi, Yasmeen Saud, inaugurated the workshop and welcome the participants.
The workshop was also attended by Misri Ladhani, Commissioner and other officers of Enforcement and Collection Division. Dr Tariq Ghani, Additional Commissioner, LTU, Karachi briefed the participants about the purpose of the workshop which was to highlight the salient features of e-filing of returns and statements and to address the problems being faced by taxpayers in this regard.
A presentation about the major features of the e-FBR portal regarding e-filing of returns and statements was followed by a live demonstration of the system by specialists from PRAL. It was emphasised that the taxpayers are neither required to visit the tax offices for filing of tax returns and statements nor required to go to the bank for paying taxes by making on line payment through branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), providing e-payment facility.
In order to facilitate the taxpayers and solve their problems with respect to e-filing, on the spot solutions ware provided to them and in some cases, the taxpayers were requested to e-tile their statements so that problems being faced by them could be addressed immediately.- PR
