Bullet-riddled bodies of three youths were found on Thursday in the jurisdiction of Ibrahim Haidri police. The youths were tortured before being killed, police said. According to the duty officer, Sub-Inspector Abdul Rehman Panhwar, the area residents had informed the police about the dead bodies on the main road near Ali Akbar Shah shrine at 7:30am.
A police party rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate and Medical Center (JPMC) for post-mortem where the doctors said they were shot dead from a close range, he added. He said the bodies bore several torture marks, adding that the hands and feet were tied with a rope.
However, the bodies could not be identified till filing of this report. The SI said body of another young boy with torture marks was found from a Suzuki pickup parked adjacent Gaba Factory. The body was shifted to the JPMC for autopsy, however, the identity could not be ascertained.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the boy was kidnapped and later shot dead, he said. Police have registered cases (243/2009 and 244/2009) under section 302/34 against unknown persons and started further probe. Meanwhile, another bullet-riddled body of an unidentified young man was found in the Orangi town. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy.
In another incident, body of a 40-year old man was recovered from the sea near PNS Dockyard Gate in the limits of Jackson police. According to police sources, the volunteers of Edhi had fished out body of an unidentified man with torture marks all over the body. They said that the hands and feet of the body were tied with rope.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for post-mortem, however no case was registered till filing of this report. In another incident, at least 35 huts were reduced to ashes while the household articles partially damaged on Super Highway near Sohrab Goth. SHO Sachal Police Inayatullah Narejo told Business Recorder that the fire broke out at a shantytown opposite Malik Agha Hotel, terminal of 4-L bus at around 4pm. The residents said the fire broke out due to short circuit.
The official said fire tenders reached the scene in time and took the situation under control, however the household articles of these huts were partially damaged. He said police have started investigation. Meanwhile, two picnickers were drowned into the sea near Port Qasim Authority. The residents of Malir town went on a picnic at a point near the PQA out of these two young boys drowned into the sea. They were identified as Hasan Shah son of Din Mohammad and Raheel son of Mohammad Alam.
The divers of Edhi Foundation fished out the body of Raza while efforts were on to take out the other one. A woman identified as Zubaida, 45 was seriously injured when she offered resistance during a dacoity bid in a passenger bus near Al-Asif Square in the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police. The injured woman was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where the doctors declared her condition as stable.
In another incident, at least four persons were injured over a dispute in the limits of Chakiwara police. According to police, a dispute between two families of Mundhra, Katchi community was going on over a plot located at the street No 5 for last few days. They also had a fight two days back and a case was registered against them at the Chakiwara police station, they added.
Today, they again clashed with each other using weapons, leaving four persons Ahmed, Mohammad Hussain, Aslam and Asghar injured. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medical treatment. No case was registered till filing of this story. Meanwhile, a man lost his life and another sustained wounds when a bus overturned in the limits of Shah Lateef police.
Police said driver of a speeding passenger bus (D-1) lost control and turned turtle at Jogi More near Bhains Colony. Resultantly, a passenger died on the spot while the other received injuries. However, the deceased and the injured could not be identified. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee.
