Pakistan Railway (PR) has decided not to ply the non-stop passenger train 6th-DN Tezrao from November 1, between Islamabad/Rawalpindi to Karachi. Railways Headquarter has been issued directives to suspend the operations of this train forthwith, well placed sources in the Railway Ministry told Business Recorder here on Friday.
Sources revealed that the PR has informed the passengers who had reserved the seats till November 13 for Karachi from Rawalpindi/Islamabad Railway stations that their reservations have been cancelled after the issuance of the directive. The administration has further asked the passengers to contact reservation offices at both the cities and take their ticket money back.
The train was named as Buraq Express during regime of former President Pervez Musharraf and was inaugurated by the former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. Following the change of the government, the Railways Administration not only changed the name of the train to Tezrao but has also suspended its operation till further orders.
Railway sources have termed it a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the present government. Thousands of the passengers who had made their reservations would face enormous difficulties not only in cancellation of their tickets but also to make their reservation for next train as a large number of the passenger would be affected by this action. When contacted, spokesperson of Pakistan Railways categorically denied the suspension of the said train. However, he revealed that an alternate route would be considered for the train on Saturday.
