Early, easy dispensation of justice: LHC CJ calls for stronger bar-bench cooperation

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif said here on Saturday that people have got a lot of expectations from independent judiciary for dispensing early and easy justice for which a strong co-operation between the bar and bench is imperative.
He was addressing to a Divisional Convention of lawyers here at Faisalabad Bar Association Hall after inaugurating the newly constructed multi-storey building of 6 Civil Courts in the premises of District Courts. District & Sessions Judge Mehmud Maqbool Bajwa, Registrar, Lahore High Court Tahir Parvez, Senior Civil Judge Anjum Raza, President of Faisalabad Bar Association Mansoor Ali, General Secretary Saifur Rehman Bhatti, other judges and lawyers were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Justice said that the lawyers should extend all-out co-operation for recording the evidence in the under-trial cases to facilitate the judicial officers in disposing of cases without delay. He said that strenuous efforts were being made to purge the subordinate judiciary of corruption. He said that no judge can dare accept bribe if the concerned Bar Association plays its effective and vibrant role.
He said that posts of Civil Judges were being filled and an examination had also been conducted under the supervision of the High Court for recruitment of Civil Judges. He said that the recruitment process would soon be completed and the selected persons would be provided training in Punjab Judicial Academy so that the newly appointed Civil Judges could perform their duties with skill.
He said that District & Sessions Judges in the province had been asked through a letter to initiate measures for recording evidence in particular cases through appointing commission for which young male and female lawyers would be given priority for increasing their experience in the profession. He advised young lawyers to work hard and pay full attention to their profession for gaining eminent status.
He eulogised the efforts and contribution of lawyers in the movement of restoration of judges particularly the Faisalabad Bar Association members who had rejected the then government's offer of establishment of High Court Bench in Faisalabad. He said that Lahore High Court had also taken suo motu action on the murder of local lawyer Tariq Mehmud Gill and directed the police to arrest the real murderers immediately. On demand of setting up of High Court Bench at Faisalabad, he said that he would consult the Chief Justice of Pakistan and Senior Judges in this regard.
He thanked the Commissioner, the DCO and DO Revenue for allocating land for construction of chambers for young lawyers on his directions. He announced Rs 0.5 million for Bar Association Dispensary.
District and Sessions Judge Mehmud Maqbool Bajwa said that positive results would be yielded by implementing National Judicial Policy in letter and spirits. However, lawyers' co-operation was very much vital for achieving the desired goal of dispensing early justice to the oppressed people.
President of Bar Association Mansoor Ali and General Secretary Saiful Rehman Bhatti thanked the Chief Justice for sparing time to visit Faisalabad Bar Association, and demanding establishment of High Court Bench at Faisalabad. On this occasion the Chief Justice unveiled the plaque for inauguration of newly constructed building of 6 civil courts and laid the foundation-stone of Dispensary at Faisalabad Bar Association besides inaugurating the lawyers sports complex.
Earlier, when the Chief Justice arrived at the Sessions Courts, he was received by District & Sessions Judge Mehmud Maqbool Bajwa, RPO Ahmad Raza Tahir, DCO Saeed Wahlah, CPO Muhammad Tahir, Senior Civil Judge Anjum Raza and other judicial officers. He was presented guard of honour by the police contingent. Later he held meeting with the judicial officers and discussed different judicial matters.
