The rumours about the killing of at least four people on Jahangir Road, Jamshed Town, which lately proved false, wrecked the nerves of Karachiites and resultantly business activities of many areas of the city were closed in a bid to save properties from being destroyed by the possible miscreants. Moreover, a massive traffic gridlock were also witnessed on the Main MA Jinnah Road and its all linking roads.
The business activities in the city's busiest Empress Market, Saddar, Guru Mandir Chowrangi, Business Recorder Road, Jamshed Road, Teen Hatti, New Town, PID Colony, Lalu Khet, Nazimabad were shut immediately after spreading of the rumours across the city.
However, the rumors were proved false by the area police and the citizens heaved a sigh of relief by hearing the news from different media sources. SHO Jamshed quarters Sohail Khan told Business Recorder that police party was on routine patrolling in Baloch Para where dozens of women took to streets and had a fist fighting with the police. "The police can not deal with the women and returned back from the area," he added.
He said that some anti-social elements were involved in the narcotics business in the area and police arrest some people who were found involved in this illegal activity and registered cases against them. " Today women and children clashed with the police party and later the protesting people blocked the Teen Hatti road, which caused traffic mess for sometime," the SHO further said.
