Facebook’s new Tinder-like feature
With Tinder being the highest grossing app, Facebook is now also testing to get a feature similar to Tinder on its messenger app.
Similar to the famous dating app Tinder, the new feature will connect the user with their friends by sending them messenger requests. If the other party accepts the request, the app will make a connection between the two people. However, one major difference between Tinder and Facebook’s new feature is that Facebook lets you send requests to only those people that are already in your friend list. On the other hand, Tinder allows the user send requests to strangers.
The new feature has just been available on some targeted users due to experimenting purposes. According to Motherboard, Facebook stated, “People often use Facebook to make plans with their friends. So, we’re running a very small test in the Facebook app to make that easier. We look forward to hearing people's feedback.”
Facebook Messenger shows a list of Facebook friends randomly. When the user clicks on the link, a page of photos of few selected friends appears with a question: ‘Want to meet up with [the name of your friend here] this week?’ The user can send ‘connect’ request and the receiver will then choose between ‘Yes’ or ‘No Thanks’ options. Responding to ‘Yes’ will send a notification to the sender and will be paired on Messenger, informs The New York Post.
The feature might seem to be bit strange but looking at the positive side, this can help anti-social people stay connected with their friends.
