The rupee did not show major change on the interbank market on Wednesday for buying and selling at 83.30 and 83.35, dealers said. Balanced demand and supply did enabled the rupee to retain its value versus the US currency, they said.
In the third Asian trade dollar stabilised with the help of investors taking profits on rising commodity-linked and higher-yielding currencies, after it was pushed to a 14-month low against a basket of currencies the previous day.
Traders said investors had been cashing in gains in the Canadian and New Zealand dollars, which this month hit their strongest levels in about 15 months, and in sterling, pushing them down about 0.2 percent against the greenback. The move helped dollar climb further off a 14-month low against euro after the single European currency failed to breach a psychological barrier at $1.50 the previous day.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee was down by five paisa against dollar for buying and selling at Rs 83.35 and 83.45, dealers said. The rupee managed to gain 20 paisa versus euro for buying and selling at Rs 123.90 and 124.40 respectively, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee registered marginal gain of five-paisa in relation to the dollar in the open currency market on Wednesday. According to the currency dealers, the dollar's demand could not remained intact that helped rupee recovery against the greenback.
The dollar slide down to Rs 83.25 and Rs 83.55, as its buying and selling rates against the overnight closing of Rs 83.30 and Rs 83.60, respectively. On the contrary, the rupee continued to face pressure and further lost its value against the pound sterling. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 136.50 and Rs 137.50, as compared to Tuesday closing of Rs 135.80 and Rs 136.50, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar remained firm against rupee at the currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednsday.The dollar opened at Rs 83.20 (buying) and Rs 83.30 (selling) against same last rate.
It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 83.20 (buying) and Rs 83.30 (selling). Pound sterling opened at Rs 134.60 (buying) and Rs 134.80 (selling) against same overnight value.
