Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said that politicians should make themselves accountable to regain the shattered trust of masses. Talking in a private television's programme on Wednesday the PML-N leader said that masses were living in a state of confusion, while making a choice through vote.
It is under this confusion that no major political party could managed to grab clear mandate in previous general election. He said that PML-N has emerged a majority party in the Punjab province but it lacked the clear majority to form a government of its own.
Consequently the party had to form a coalition government he said adding same was the case with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) at center. He said that this situation urges the politicians to work seriously to strengthen the democratic institutions so that the people could trust their leadership. The political leadership should have to quit the practice of compromises to
establish the credibility of democratic institutions, he said. To a question Javed Hashmi said that even being a stern critic of PPP, he cherishes deep proximity for late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. They were the leaders of great stature, he added.
