Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Muhammad Pervez Rathore, has said that the scourge of terrorism can only be combated through community policing, whereas all available resources are being utilised to ensure protection of all important institutions and offices, including media institutions. CCPO directed Lahore Police to remain vigilant to keep a watchful eye on nearby Kacha areas of River Ravi and new tenants residing near location at old Airport.
He appealed to the citizens to keep their documents of vehicles and computerised original identity card with them in the city during travel. He was talking to a delegation of traders, which called on him at Capital City Police Headquarters, Lahore, here on Wednesday. CCPO assured complete co-operation to the business community and said that traders could play a vital role in the economic well-being of the nation.
He said that every citizen had to play his/her role in eradication of heinous crime from the society, including terrorism and maintenance of law and order in the provincial metropolis. CCPO also appealed to the citizens to desist from making bogus telephone calls and help police in making such mischievous persons accountable before the law due to whom citizens are deprived of immediate police assistance in genuine emergency calls.
CCPO informed the delegation that instructions had been issued to Lahore Police for keeping a close and continuous contact with the security personnel deputed at sensitive institutions, universities, schools and colleges and other important media places and making a foolproof security arrangements after a thorough check-up.
He said order has also been given to take legal action against all kinds of objectionable materials in order to eradicate dissemination of wrong information. Muhammad Pervez Rathore also appealed to the citizens of Lahore to keep a vigilant eye on their immediate surroundings and inform immediately on the following telephone numbers about any suspicious things or persons at Emergency Control 15, Qurban Control 99200269 or Traffic Control 99201910.
