In the wake of recent terrorist acts and in pursuance of directions of the government, the management of different government hospitals has adopted security measures for hospital employees, patients and their attendants.
Sources told Business Recorder that as per directives of health department, top management of Sir Gangaram Hospital, Services Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Mayo Hospital and Lahore General Hospital chalked out security plan and also enhanced the number of officials/security guards deputed for security purposes.
Apart from this, focal persons have also been appointed in these hospitals to ensure proper security arrangements. Walk-through gates are also being installed. The administration of Services Hospital Lahore has also made necessary arrangements to cope with any emergency situation. Under these arrangements, entry of ambulances and rickshaws has been banned and the staff deputed at the main gate would bring the patients to the emergency ward on wheel chairs and statures.
Security guards have been posted at all the gates and have been directed to remain alert. Ten walk-through gates would also be installed within next few days at various places of the hospital. In a meeting chaired by Professor Faisal Masood, it was decided that the staff of the hospital would be bound to display the stickers at their vehicles provided by the hospital administration while no guest would be allowed to stay in the doctors/nursing hostel without prior permission.
It was also made binding for doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other concerned workers to keep their identity cards with them, besides displaying departmental cards during duty hours. All the staff of the hospital has been advised to be high alert and make necessary arrangements to keep operation theatres and other wards updated.
