South African domestic cricketer Dion Taljard has been sentence for 18 years in prison after being found guilty of rape.
Taljard, represented Border in South Africa in first class cricket between 1993 and 1999, before relocating to the United Kingdom, reported Daily Mail.
As per the article, Taljard repeatedly attacked the unnamed women, which led the women reportedly to take her own life at one stage, before the women came forward three years ago and informed about the assaults.
However, Taljard has maintained his innocence, claiming to be the victim of lies. The cricketer claimed to fame after taking a hat-trick against a Pakistan touring side in 1998.
