All the government and private educational institutions including schools and colleges in twin cities that were closed down due to terror threats would re-open from today (Monday). According to statement issued by Federal Education Directorate here directed the educational institutions run by federal government to resume their routine academic activities.
All the schools and colleges would reopen from Monday, the statement said. The management of International Islamic University had already announced to reopen university from Monday. On the other hand capital administration said that government had taken necessary measures for the security of schools, adding that schools would reopen and start their educational activities in the federal capital.
Owing to the security threats, two police personnel have been deputed at every government and private schools and colleges including universities.
It is pertinent to mention here that all the schools and universities had announced closure after the threat of terror attacks on educational institutions following an attack on the International Islamic University in Islamabad on October 20. Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has also announced to re-open its offices in Islamabad and regional offices from today with special security arrangements.
According to spokesman of the AIOU Obaid Ullah Mumtaz, special security arrangements have been taken at AIOU main campus as well as regional branch offices of the university. He said that no one would be allowed to travel in the university buses without proper identity cards.
Commissioner Islamabad had asked the management of educational institutions to follow the new security plan chalked out after blast in IIU last week. Meanwhile all the schools and colleges run by armed forces are also going to restart their activities from today. According to Director General ISPR Major General Athar Abbas, all the army public schools and federal board education institutes would reopen from October 26 (today).
After the GHQ attack, the militants had threatened to target the government installations and educational institutes specially army public schools and colleges.
