Partly Facetious: Compromising my productive capacity

"Who ever is less productive must not cast the first stone."
Published October 27, 2009

"Who ever is less productive must not cast the first stone."
"That's not an accurate rendition of the saying."
"What is?"
"Let whoever is without sin cast the first stone."
"President Zardari must use that while defending the National Reconciliation Ordinance."
"Well his line of attack or defence shall we say is to let loose his minions on TV channels and argue that the President is exempt from being prosecuted till he leaves the office of the President."
"Ah yes and you and I are sure that when he does leave that august office he won't be a resident of this country."
"Of course not, this country will be his primary residence only when he is in power. But what was with your altered proverb?"
"Well my point is that those of us who are least productive ensure that they do not waste any time on the streets of this country."
"Sorry?"
"Rehman Malik is the least productive member of the Cabinet, and I say this because the law and order situation in this country has worsened over the past year and a half, just look at the number of terrorist attacks each day..."
"But that is due to the South Waziristan operation. It's not his fault."
"He still is the Interior Minister and must take responsibility for increasing lawlessness. See my point is if he cannot improve the situation then the least he can do is not undermine the productivity of his more productive natives."
"I am not sure I follow."
"I spend over an hour to get to my place of work, a distance of no more than 4 kilometres, and each day the number of barriers as well as their placement changes so I can never predict how early I must start from my house to reach my office in time. That compromises my productive capacity."
"It's for security reasons and..."
"I know its for security reasons but I hear that Malik takes less than five minutes to reach his office that is paid for by you and me where what he exactly does is beyond me."
"Ah yes. Such is the difference between the haves and the have nots."
