The Thai stock market fell 0.70 percent Friday after late profit taking wiped out morning gains as investors stayed sceptical over economic recovery, analyst said. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index lost 4.86 points to close at 685.24 points, and the blue chip SET-50 index shed 3.30 points to 483.67. Losers outnumbered gainers 238 to 105 and 106 stocks were unchanged with turnover of 3.7 billion shares worth 18.9 billion baht (565.2 million dollars).
The Thai baht slightly gained against the dollar to close at 33.43-44 baht to one dollar compared to Thursday's close at 33.46-48. Coal producer Banpu jumped 6.00 baht to close at 438.00 baht, but PTT Plc dropped 3.00 baht to 240.00, and its subsidiary PTT Exploration and Production shed 1.00 baht to 145.00. Bangkok Bank added 1.00 baht to 112.00, but Kasikornbank lost 1.25 baht to 77.75, and Siam Commercial Bank edged down 1.00 baht to 77.25 baht. Siam Cement stayed put at 204.00 baht.
