The Provincial Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority (PaRRSA) is to launch house survey in district Swat from Thursday (November 5) to prepare assessment of the losses of the residential houses in the militancy-torn district. The objectives of the survey aims at assessing losses of those owners whose houses are partially or completely damaged due to conflict.
Sixty-five survey teams have been constituted to conduct door-to-door survey and collect required information. To ensure transparency, steering committees at district and tehsils level will monitor the survey and collect the data from the survey teams. According to the sources, report on the assessment of damaged houses has been completed and groundwork for launching post-conflict need assessment is in the final stage.
Meanwhile, Director General of PaRRSA Shakeel Qadar, lauding the UN organisations and NGOs for the support they had extended in relief efforts for Malakand IDPs, has appealed to them to play their role also in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the devastated areas.
About rehabilitation and reconstruction of the conflict areas, he said the government had devised a coordinated plan. "People will be kept informed of the progress of the plan so that the aim of rehabilitation and reconstruction could be achieved," he added. Reconstruction of houses will be on ownership basis, he said, adding those temporary shelters would also be provided to the persons whose houses were not fit for residential purposes.
