The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Thursday adjourned to November 10 proceedings in some identical appeals against the single bench's order about postponement of bye-elections in Punjab. Khawaja Haris, counsel for Punjab Government stated that the election commission Pakistan should consult all stakeholders including federal government.
A single bench comprising Justice Mian Saqib Nisar postponed bye-elections in Punjab. Muhammad Azhar Siddique advocate, a candidate for NA-123 and Chief Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid and a contestant from NA-55 have filed Intra Court Appeals against that order.
The petitioners' counsel said that Punjab government was not competent to file constitutional petition because it was not an aggrieved party under article 199. They, therefore, prayed to the court to set aside the single bench orders and direct the CEC to hold the elections in the said constituencies.
