The rupee managed to recover slightly against dollar, it, however, lost steeply versus euro in process of trading, dealers said on Thursday. On the interbank market the rupee was up with a gain of three paisa at 83.67 in relation to dollar for buying and it also gained two paisa at 83.72 for selling, dealers said.
In the fourth Asian trade dollar and yen edged up as short-term investors and Japanese exporters sold into a rally in the euro and higher-yielding currencies which followed a repeated pledge by the US Fed to keep rates low for a while. With the Federal Reserve meeting out of the way, eyes were on rate decisions by the European Central Bank and the Bank of England later in the day, which along with US jobs data on Friday were helping to keep a lid on big moves.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee posted a gain of 10 paisa against dollar for buying and selling at 83.95 and 84.05, dealers said. The rupee continued its fall versus euro, sliding 50 paisa for buying at Rs 123.95 and it lost Rs 1.05 for selling at Rs 124.45, dealers said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee appreciated its worth by ten-paisa on buying side while it remained unchanged on selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Thursday. According to the currency dealers, the dollar could not sustain at its overnight closing and declined to Rs 83.90 on buying counter, while it stayed unchanged on selling counter at Rs 84.20. However, the rupee failed to maintain its day earlier level and slide down against the pound sterling. At the end of closing, the pound's buying and selling rates were improved to Rs 136.50 and Rs 137.80, as compared to previous closing of Rs 136.00 and Rs 137.00, respectively, the dealers said.
