The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday issued notices to DCO and DDO (revenue) and Town Municipal Administration (TMA) Kasur and sought replies on a petition filed by a citizen against demolition of his house. The petitioner Muhammad Yaqoob through his counsel Rana Ijaz Ahmed pleaded that he received a notice from TMA on August 22 to vacate house without giving him any opportunity of hearing.
He pointed out that on August 25 a team of 14 employees of municipal administration headed by TMA Sheikh Anwar, demolished his house. He said he never received a mandatory notice under section 4 of Land Acquisition Act.
His house had been acquired on the pretext of public interest but he was not paid any money, he said. After hearing his arguments, the court observed that allegations against Kasur TMA were of serious nature and if found correct they would be sent behind bar for violating fundamental rights of a citizen.
