NA-120: PML-N celebrates as Begum Kulsoom Nawaz wins by-election

KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz candidate for NA-120 consistency Begum Kulsoom Nawaz won by-election. According to the unverified and unofficial results of all 220 polling stations, Kulsoom Nawaz got 61,254 votes while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid secured 47,066 votes.

Yaqoob Sheikh, an independent candidate backed by Milli Muslim League, managed to get 4,174 votes, while Pakistan People’s Party candidate Faisal Mir got 2,520 votes.

For the first time, one hundred biometric voting machines were used on trial basis at 39 polling stations, Radio Pakistan reports.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif says that the people of NA-120 have rejected the politics of chaos and conspiracies. She was addressing a public gathering after the unofficial announcement of victory of PML-N candidate Begum Kulsoom Nawaz in NA-120 in Lahore. She said people had proved that Nawaz Sharif lived in their hearts by casting their vote for PML-N candidate.

Addressing the press conference in Lahore, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique says elements plotting conspiracies against progress should join our hands in the development of Pakistan. He paid thanks to the people for extending their all-out support to the candidate of PML (N).

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also extended heartiest congratulations to PML-N candidate Begum Kulsoom Nawaz on the victory in by-polls NA-120.
