As many as 148-year-old "Iqbal Manzil" (the birthplace of Allama Iqbal) at Sialkot still remains a victim of height of negligence of the concerned officials of the departments responsible for the look-after of this ancient national legacy.
The third storey of Iqbal Manzil is in shambles, as this portion of the building remains closed for the visitors due to its miserable condition, while the back side walls of the Iqbal Manzil have been halted from collapsing with the iron stands affixed beneath these them. The concerned officials have not yet focused on the early repairing of this dilapidating part of the building.
The low capacity UPS system also remains unable to light the entire building, which often remains in darkness, especially during nights and days due to the load shedding of electricity.
The most of the decades old and torn curtains have also been changed, while the second storey of this building has been carpeted. Now, the new wall curtains and carpeted rooms of the second storey of this ancient building attract more than 200 hundreds visitors daily across country and abroad.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government's three years old promise of establishing an advance research centre in Iqbal Manzil at Sialkot still remains to be honoured by the provincial government, amazingly.
