Inspector General Police Salahuddin Babar Khattak has directed police officers to espouse foolproof security measures on the eve of holy festival of Eid-ul-Azha, by further strengthening security in the metropolis.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, he ordered law enforcement officers to carry out police patrolling in cattle market and to keep surveillance on every person to ensure proper safety of visitors. He directed to deploy police officers in civil dress to prevent incidents of terrorism and street crime in cattle market zones.
He further directed to inspect the vehicles that are being used to bring cattle heads in market besides checking identity papers of those who are shifting cattle heads to Karachi from upcountry.
He ordered to intensify snap checking and mobile patrolling on the occasion of Edi-ul-Azha. He added that action would be taken against police officers found involved in harassing citizens without any justified reason. He ordered to establish a temporary control room to get updated about current happenings.
He further directed that co-ordination among law enforcement officers should be strengthened which also needed acquiring intelligence information in advance.
To avert traffic jams, Salahuddin directed DIG traffic to devise a proper plan for smooth traffic flow.
