To root out the menace of terrorism and extremism from the country, police and other law enforcement agencies have to work with complete devotion and dedication, said renowned scholar and analyst, Hafiz Shafique-ur-Rehman, here on Monday.
"It is not only the responsibility of police and other law enforcement agencies but every segment of the society has to play its role for elimination of terrorism and brining complete peace to Pakistan", he said while addressing police officers in a capacity building programme, "An hour with a Guest," launched by Islamabad Police.
Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Police has initiated the programme under the auspices of Media and Public Relations Centre (MPRC) of Islamabad Police. The main objective of the programme is capacity building of police personnel by interacting with intellectuals.
Besides IG Kaleem Imam, the function was attended by DIG Operations Binyameen, DIG HQR Kamal-ud-Din Tipu, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SSP Traffic Dr Moeen Masood, AIG Tariq Masood Yaseen, SP Kamran Aadil, SP Traffic Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, SP Security Syed Abbas Ahsan, SP Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani, SP Tahir Ayub, SP Mir Vaiz, SP Farrukh Rashid, SP Muntazir Mehdi, DSP Zubair Shaikh, DSP Khursheed Khan.
Citing Allama Iqbal's poetry, Shafique said Iqbal is still a driving force for people and if followed it will help defeat the terrorism, extremism and other problems. He said that the Ulema have to inculcate such an education, which helps weed out extremism from the society. Speaking on the occasion, IG Kaleem Imam underlined the need of professionalism in police personnel while discharging the duty.
