Machine tools and Automation sector has shown an overall growth of 5.4% where, small scale manufacturing registered a growth of 7.5% and large scale manufacturing grew by 4.8% in the year 2007-08. The total machinery imports amounted to US $5.75 billion and exports of engineering goods reached to US $391 million in the past year.
Auto and Auto Parts industry also possess high potential and the Engineering Development Board (EDB) is vigorously executing the AIDP to raise the GDP contribution of the automotive sector to 5.6%. It is actively employed to heighten car production capacity to half a million units and attract an investment of US $650 million.
In this regard, the two concurrent exhibitions, the International Machine Tools & Automation Industry Exhibition (MTAP) and the International Automobile, Auto Parts & Accessories Exhibition (AAPP) are organised for the fifth consecutive year at the Karachi Expo Centre from November 12 - 14, 2009. This event is poised to provide various business opportunities to the 25 participating companies which are representing over 100 overseas principals from 30 countries, interested to do active business in Pakistan. The participants will also get a chance to interact with more than 8,000 trade professionals present at the show.
In addition, the Second Foundry Workshop is being organised in partnership with Pakistan Foundry Association on November 13, 2009 at the Karachi Expo Centre. The workshop will feature technical papers related to SG Iron Production and Aluminium & Aluminium Alloys. The eminent speakers will also highlight the opportunities available for the local foundries while discussing their problems and related issues.
Furthermore, the event will receive far-reaching local and International media coverage including 19 industry related publications from countries like China, USA, Singapore, Turkey and Spain. Together Machine Tools & Automation Pakistan 2009 and Auto & Auto Parts Pakistan 2009 will address the issues and challenges related to the sector and explore prospects for emerging opportunities in the region.
