The Punjab government has given top priority to security arrangements of educational institutions and their administrations have been directed to ensure compliance on security measures suggested by the government in letter and spirit.
DCO Saeed Wahlah stated this while reviewing security arrangements of educational institutions falling in category A-I during a meeting held here on Thursday. Representatives from GCUF, UAF, National Textile University, Education University, University of Faisalabad, NFC University, PMC, Beacon House, DMC/DPS, City Schools, Sacred Heart School, Kohinoor Grammar School and SP Admn. Robin Yamin, SP CID Riaz Maken and others attended the meeting.
The DCO asked the administration of educational institutions to ensure security arrangements prescribed by the provincial government for the safety and protection of their students. He also asked them to send a comprehensive list of their security guards to his office so that necessary arrangements might be made to get them trained by the elite police.
He further said that educational institutions would only be allowed to open after the thorough checking of foolproof security arrangements including construction of boundary walls up to 8 feet, deployment of trained security guards at exit and entry gates, installation of walkthrough gates, CCTV Cameras and metal detectors at the entrance.
Moreover, he said that in the wake of present security threats to educational institutions the government was very much serious about their security measures and strict actions would be taken against the administration not following the given instructions. He asked the administration to prepare emergency plan for their institutions in any untoward incident besides giving necessary instructions to their staff and students.
The police officers attending the meeting informed the participants of their security arrangements for Universities and Colleges and told that training of security guards was being conducted at police lines headquarter where they could send their security personnel for acquiring training.
