Dr Asim Hussain, Chairman NRB and President Pakistan Nursing Council has said that government is fully aware of the importance of nursing sector and efforts are underway to introduce reforms to make nursing profession efficient, respectable and compatible with international standard.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of Online Registration system and website of Pakistan Nursing Council here on Thursday. He stated that the new system would enhance the working capacity of PNC Secretariat and will be able to respond to the registration related queries in shortest possible time.
He said that USAID funded Technical Assistance for Capacity building in Midwifery, Information and Logistics (TACMIL) Health Project began work with PNC on an online registration system and updating the computerised system in March 2008.
The project provided technical support to develop a new website, which became available on August 13, 2009, sais adding, this website serves as a central location for information about the PNC, registration and examinations, continuing education and provides links to resources like new journal articles for nurses and nursing students.
One of the most useful components of the new website for nursing students was the option to download the registration and licensing forms that are required for submission before becoming eligible for practice, he added.
Nighat Durrani, Registrar Pakistan Nursing Council, in her welcome address informed that it was for the first time in the history of Pakistan Nursing Council that the Nursing Education Board of Punjab and one of the allied schools of Nursing at Faisalabad are linked directly to a database within the PNC office. Mary Kobb, Dy. Chief of health USAID, Dr Zafar Gill, Chief of Party, TACMIL Project, and Dr El-Nasir Lalani Dean, Graduate Programmes and Research, Agha Khan University also spoke on the occasion.-PR
