Managing Director Pakistan International Airline (PIA), Captain Muhammad Aijaz Haroon, has revealed that PIA is considering adding new destinations in near future by increasing the number of flights from Sialkot. The step is being taken keeping in view the demand of businessmen, industrialists and general public of the city, he said.
The MD PIA disclosed that airline is considering starting its flight to Barcelonan from the next year and final arrangements are being made in this connection. Talking to reporters at Sialkot International Airport on Friday he disclosed that so far flown 81,847 Hajj pilgrims to Jeddah and Madinah operating 203 flights with nine flights from different cities during past 23 days since the commencement of PIA's pre-Hajj operation.
He said that PIA started the Haj flights from October 21 from nine different destinations across the country and would last till November 21 while return journey of Hajis would begin in December that would be completed by January 1, 2010.
Captain Haroon further stated direct Haj flights from Sialkot would now continue till November 20 with a total of eight flights carrying over 3,700 intending Haj pilgrims to the holy land while the post Haj flights to bring back the pilgrims from the holy land would be started from December 24th to December 31.
