Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that corruption has weakened the foundation of the country. "Misappropriation of funds will never be allowed. There is a need to make collective efforts in order to root out corruption from the country," he said while talking to Pakistan Muslim League-N workers belonging to Kasur district, here on Saturday.
He said that development projects worth billions of rupees have been initiated to provided basic amenities to the citizens. He further said that high standard of construction work, timely completion of the projects and transparent utilisation of funds had been ensured. "Workers are the assets of the party and their suggestions are given due importance regarding public welfare projects and programmes," he said.
The Chief Minister said that politics of PML-N was aimed at serving the people and raising their living standard. "Revolutionary programmes have been initiated for the development and prosperity of the people. The government is endeavouring to mitigate the sufferings of poor people by utilising all resources," he said.
"As a proud nation we should give up the habit of relying on foreign aid and learn to live within our own resources. On the instructions of Nawaz Sharif, a number of welfare projects have been initiated for the first time in 62 years," he said.
He said that a massive package for the development work in Kasur was being considered and measures were being taken for the early completion of Lahore-Kasur road project. "It is unfortunate that Lahore-Kasur raod project worth four billion rupees has not been completed as yet. Utilisation of every public funds in a transparent manner is the responsibility of the government," he said.
He informed workers that the action had been taken against the officers of Communication and Works Department who were found guilty of negligence and dereliction of duty in the implementation of Lahore-Kasur road project. Another Degree College would also be established in Kasur during the next financial year. The land would also be identified for the construction of a stadium in Kasur City, he said.
The PML-N workers said that unprecedented development work is in progress in Kasur. "Chief Minister has won the hearts of the people by initiating revolutionary projects, they said. The workers also apprised the Chief Minister of public problems and development projects in Kasur. General Secretary PML-N Kasur Jamil Khan, Nasir Mahmood Khan, Haji Habib Ahmed, Hassan Ali Khan, Haji Safdar Ansari, Haibat Nawaz Niazi, Haji Muhammad Akram, Haji Ayaz Ahmed and Chaudhry Mubashar Nawaz also attended the meeting.
