Technical management studies: IPO delegation to tour Singapore and Malaysia on November 17
Director National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry (NCEAC), University of Sindh, Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Bhanger is leading a 5-member delegation of Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO) of Pakistan on a technical management studies tour to Singapore and Malaysia from 17th November to 26th November 2009.
The World Intellectual Property Organisation, Geneva has sponsored this program of studies in which University of Sindh, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, PCSIR and IPO would taking part. The delegation will visit the IPO office in Malaysia and Singapore.
The purpose of study is to take advantage from the well-established Transfer Technology Offices (TTO) in the two countries, and thus strengthen the IPO regimes and the Intellectual Property (IP) policies in different Research and Development (R&D) organisations in Pakistan.
The NCEAC, University of Sindh has strong linkage with the industries in Pakistan, particularly in province of Sindh. The centre is also embarking on a policy of applied research, which has commercial potential. In this connection, various new programmes have been worked out. The delegation will return on 26th November 2009. It merits mentioning here that owing to the global trend in trade and commerce, IPO office in Pakistan is also striving hard to implement strict IP laws in Pakistan, a condition that is mandatory to encourage foreign investments in the country.
