The Punjab government wants to give special training to police force to enable it to tackle the menace of terrorism and to improve the law and order situation in the province. Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa stated this while speaking at the meeting of Punjab Chambers of Commerce and Industry's Co-ordination Committee, held at the LCCI here on Saturday.
He asked the business community to help the government, which was doing all possible effort to provide better security at education institutions, in improving law and order situation. He said that business community had played an appreciable role for the help of the IDPs.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of Punjab Chambers of Commerce and Industry Co-ordination Committee and Chief Minister's Senior Political Assistant Muhammad Pervez Malik has described the business community as backbone of the economy. The government was making efforts to solve the problems being faced by this important segment of country.
He said that infrastructure upgradation was one of the priorities of the Punjab government, and underlined the importance good infrastructure, which was necessary to boost the industrial and economic activities. He said the provincial government was keen to upgrade the road network as it ensured prompt transportation of goods and played important role in boosting the economic activities.
He said the credit of establishing best infrastructure in the province went to Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, who had given extraordinary attention towards it. Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry said that deteriorated law and order situation was the biggest challenge, being faced by the country.
He urged the provincial and the Federal governments to take concrete measures to curb the menace of terrorism as it was affecting the economic activities and investment scenario. He said that it was very difficult to attract investment without protecting the investors.
He said that without security of the investor and his property, the economy could not grow. He expressed concerns over the existing law and order, which had shaken the confidence of the foreign investors. He said also demanded special measures to curtail imports and increase exports.
He termed the formation of Punjab Chambers of Commerce and Industry Co-ordination Committee a step towards right direction, and said that establishment of the Co-ordination Committee would help the government to get direct feedback from business community.
