The quarterly Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) meeting was held at the CBC office here on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by the President of CBC, Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi, who is also Administrator DHA. It took a number of important decisions pertaining to various civic and development works of DHA/CBC areas. The Chief Executive Officer of the CBC, Ms Zeenat Ahmed, was also present on the occasion.
Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi asked the CBC staff to bring a visible and substantial improvement in cleanliness and betterment of civic amenities in the area. He directed the staff to work with utmost devotion and a sense of commitment for creating quality living environment in DHA/CBC areas. Tirmizi asked the concerned CBC staff to deliver to the best of their abilities and to maintain the good name, credibility and reputation of the organisation at all cost.
The meeting decided that during the forth coming Eid-ul-Azha, CBC would establish 27 dedicated sacrificial camps with all infrastructural facilities in DHA/CBC areas. No body would be allowed to carry out sacrifice of animals in open plots, whereas slaughtering of animal within the four walls of residences would be permissible.
DHA and CBC Vigilance staff would continuously monitor the situation and impose heavy fines on the defaulters as Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 on sacrifice of camel, cow and goat respectively. The sacrificial camps would be established for three days while adequate arrangements have been made for prompt removal of offal and other sacrificial waste from the area.
President CBC directed the concerned CBC staff to bring a definite improvement in garbage cleaning, removal of road debris and bush cutting in the area. CBC Board gave approval for placement of specially designed manhole covers made of fibre and concrete which would be firmly embedded to ground instead of existing steel made manhole covers which are stolen frequently. Tirmizi directed that manhole covers for different areas should be of different colours and numbered accordingly.
He also ordered computerisation of the entire record of new manhole covers to ensure effective covering of open manholes in the area. He asked the CBC water supply department to address the problem of shortage of water in DHA through a well worked out strategy and to ensure equitable and judicious distribution of water in DHA/CBC areas.-PR
