Sindh Home Department on Saturday formally issued notification extending the ban on pillion riding by another 30 days under section 144 of Cr. P.C. According to another announcement made on Saturday the Home department has banned all ceremonies in marriage halls after 0000 hours. The ban would be applicable on all marriage halls, lawns, hotels and other places effective November 17.
Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza has directed the police to ensure the enforcement of the ban placed under section 144 of Cr.P.C. and take action against violators without any discrimination. According to Home department, the objective of banning the ceremonies after mid-night is to facilitate the public, control energy wastage and to do away with the trend of ceremonies continuing till late at night.
