Punjab government has allocated record funds for education sector to give access to talented and hardworking children of the poor people to higher and quality education, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said while addressing annual Parents Day of Military College Jhelum on Saturday.
He said that objectives of creation of Pakistan could not be achieved without eliminating monopoly of a limited segment of the society on higher and quality education. Only intelligent and educated youth can save Pakistan in these difficult circumstances, therefore, the youth should come forward with full force for discharging their due national responsibilities.
He said under Punjab Education Endowment Fund, government has allocated substantial funds for imparting education to talented and industrious students at local level and abroad. He said under Danish School System, exemplary education institutions are being set up in every nook and corner of the province.
He said that Pakistan has the best manpower and vast national resources and it can join the comity of the developed nations with determination relying on its own resources instead of foreign aid. "Independence and autonomy of Pakistan is linked to its self-reliance and not on dependence on others" he emphasised.
Shahbaz lamented that a limited segment of society has occupied the resources of the country and corruption has ruined majority of our institutions. Both civil and military governments have played their role in this regard and now it takes several decades to redress the loss caused by the dictators.
The Chief Minister lauded the academic and extracurricular activities of Jhelum Military College and said this institution had played an unbeatable role in the national defence. Whole nation is proud of the sacrifices of martyrs and Ghazis of alumni of this institution. He announced a grant of Rs 5 crore for new construction and different development schemes of the Military College.
