President AJK, Raja Zulqarnain Khan has called upon the international community, especially United Nations and the European countries to perform their due role to ensure early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue to avert any threat to the global peace. Speaking to various public representative delegations including a delegation of overseas Kashmiris at the Kashmir House Thursday.
The President called for resumption of result-oriented dialogue between India and Pakistan for the resolution of Kashmir conflict, in line with aspirations of the people of the state. The President bitterly criticised India for blatantly violating the Indus-River (Sind-Tass) treaty through construing unlawful dams on the rivers of Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
The violation of water treaty by India was causing unrest in south Asian region, which could lead to a great threat to the regional peace, he observed. He called upon the UN and the European countries including Britain to perform their due obligations to defuse raising tension caused by the continued denial by India to grant right of self-determination to Jammu & Kashmir people, and other frequent violations of global norms and commitments.
Raja Zulqarnain Khan said that Britain-based Pakistani and Kashmiri expatriates, including those elected persons sitting in the British parliament and local civic institutions are performing an effective role for mustering the sympathies of the European world for the early settlement of Kashmir issue. They, he added, are also raising the image of Pakistan in the Western world.
He pointed out that at present, over 250 Pakistan and Kashmir origin British citizens are serving in various positions, being the elected councillors of the city which indeed, is a great pride for the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Raja Zulqarnain called upon the overseas Pakistanis, including a large number of Britain-based Kashmiri expatriates hailing from AJK, to perform their due role for the speedy socio economic progress of Pakistan, including AJK.
