A sufficient stock of sugar is available at fair price shops in the city and its availability will further be improved in the coming days. According to a spokesman of the City District Government here on Thursday, sugar is also supplied to the weekly bazaars for the consumers.
Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif has already directed that provision of sugar to the consumers at the fixed rates of Rs 40 per kilogram was the responsibility of the district administration and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
He also directed the authorities concerned to ensure the sugar supply at the fixed rate at any cost and advertisements should be given in the media about the sale points, set up by the government, for sugar. According to District Co-ordination Officer (DCO), Imdadullah Bosal, the number of fair price shops has been increased from 412 to 500 to facilitate the consumers.
