Punjab Minister for Labour Muhammad Ashraf Sohna has revealed that a programme for imparting different skills and technical education besides general education to students would be stated during current year at the workers welfare schools. He said that Rs 50 million would be provided for setting up technical workshop in each of the school.
Addressing a joint meeting of labour leaders, schools heads and officers of labour department at workers welfare school, Johar Colony, the Minister said that the governing body of social security had approved the proposal to establish medical colleges at Faisalabad and Lahore for the children of industrial workers.
He announced that the children of the registered industrial workers would be provided jobs in labour department. He said that the government was committed to impart education to every child of labourers because terrorism had cropped up due to ignorance and poverty.
Ashraf Sohna said that classes up to graduate level would be started in the workers' welfare schools, besides providing representation to the labour representatives in the administrative committees of these institutions. Labour leaders Haji Abdul Jabbar, Mian Saddique, Aslam Meraj, Imdad Awan, and others lauded the labour friendly policies of Punjab government.
