Indian Prime Minister's visit to Washington: Kashmiris to hold peace rally on November 24
Kashmiri-Americans will hold a peace rally on Tuesday (tomorrow) in front of the White House to urge the US President, Barack Obama to persuade New Delhi towards the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre Washington, in a statement issued here on Saturday said that leaders of the Kashmiri American community and people from both sides of the Line of Control would take part in the rally on the visit of the Indian prime minister.
"The participants want an end to human rights violations in the heavily militarised Indian occupied Kashmir," he said, adding that they would also called upon President Obama to fulfil his pledge he made during his election campaign to help resolve the Kashmir dispute."
"Kashmir is one of the oldest disputes recognised by the United Nations but the Indian leaders do not want the US President to talk about it and our peace rally is meant to draw attention to the urgent need for efforts towards a fair settlement," Dr Fai said.
