Federal Minister for Population Welfare Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government is striving hard to ensure socio-economic justice in the country. Talking to Business Recorder here on Sunday evening the minister said that the government had formulated a strategy for resolving problems being confronted by the women.
To make women economically independent, she said women training centres were being established in rural areas. After the completion of training the government would provide small loans to the trained women to initiate their own businesses and earn their livelihood, she revealed.
Under the programme, she said around 13 women training centres were being set up in Sialkot district. The minister said that Pakistani women had the courage and capability for bringing positive changes in the society. She said, "Women want to make Pakistan a proud country and today's Pakistani women are not only working as pilots and traffic controllers but also in almost every field."
Dr Awan said that the government had accorded its special attention on converting the country into a real democratic welfare state. The government was making full efforts for introducing welfare system aimed at providing social justice to everyone in the country, she said. "But some anti-democratic forces are making conspiracies against President Zardari just for their personal gains," she said.
